MAIN LIBRARY POCKET SYSTEM

MAIN LIBRARY NEW POCKET SYSTEM WITH ZONES AND RULES

There is a new Pocket System in the main library. This has been put in place to improve access to the library, particularly at busy times of the day. You must now bring your student card to the library in order to claim a numbered spot to study or read. A reminder to please respect the need for silence in the library at all times!

Each pocket has a number and a colour, which corresponds to a seat and zone in the library (including the computers).

Every time you enter the library, you will put your student card in one of the plastic pockets, take the coloured card from the pocket, and go to the numbered spot indicated on the card. AT BUSY TIMES, YOU GET THE SPOT THAT IS AVAILABLE BASED ON SPACE- you can't always choose a spot near your friends.

The maximum capacity of the library is 60 spots:

28 places in the open space area: YELLOW ZONE
12 places in the Reading Corner: RED ZONE
8 computer places: GREEN ZONE
12 garden places: special passes

WHEN MAY I USE THE LIBRARY?

If you enter the library, it is because you have business that requires the use of the library (reading, research, consulting the computers, borrowing or returning library materials). Plan to come at a time when you can stay for a minimum of 10 minutes. You may not pop in “just to see” if a friend is there, as this is disruptive for your fellow students trying to read and work. Please organise yourselves accordingly.

Time limits: At busy times (lunch, first period), you may stay for a maximum of 30 minutes, and a minimum of 10 minutes, space permitting. The librarians reserve the right to rotate you out of the library after you have been there for 30 minutes to make room for other students waiting outside.

Computer use: The computers sessions are individual and last 20 minutes. Once you finish using the computer, you must go back to the pocket organiser and see if there is a spot for you to stay in the library.

Note: if you are occupying a library spot, and you want to switch to a computer, you must first return the card for your seat to the pocket organiser, gather your belongings, and then take a computer spot. YOU CANNOT OCCUPY TWO SPOTS AT ONCE. Once you have decided to occupy a spot in the library, you must let the librarians know if you need to run to your locker etc. Please use the wc before deciding to come into the library.

Never leave your personal belongings in the library unattended.
